Review: Blooddrop Horse-Inspired Perfumerie and Bath Products

Some of you may remember the review I did a few months ago on horse-inspired perfumes from Blooddrop Clothing & Fineries.  I love how unique this idea is of using horses and the equestrian life as a point of inspiration into an area that doesn’t often see this influence.  So let’s get started talking about the new horse-inspired perfumes and how wonderful they are!

For starters, the naming and packaging of these scents are so fun!  They have so much charm.  I hope you will take the time to view each photo and their story on the website!

Together:  This scent was inspired by the above photo of the woman and horse.  This picture really is the epitome of this series. The two are clearly a very happy pair with the chestnut mare’s ears forward and the woman’s honest, glowing smile. Both are so nicely turned out for a sunny day’s ride. It makes me smile just seeing them together!  I couldn’t agree more and this description is perfect.  I adored this scent, and it is a top contender for my all-time fave!  To me, I smelled a touch of honeysuckle and it had a vintage floral aspect to it.  One of the greatest things about perfumes is what each individual interprets.  It is a lovely scent and I enjoy it very much.  Per Blooddrop, it is meadow grass, pear, honey, and a blend of citrus.

Grand Prix:  This one had a lemon undertone to me with a touch of powder.  It is a clean scent.  It is described as blue ribbon satin, clean musk, red apple, white grapefruit, and celebratory champagne.  Those are some fun scents rolled int one!

In Good Hands:  This scent is straight up birthday cake ha!  There are chocolate and vanilla undertones and it’s just delicious!  This is a definite comfort scent.  Hazelnut cake, marzipan, honey, and buttercream.

The Old Horse Has Gone To Sleep:  This was another of my all-time favorites.  There is something totally calm and peaceful about this scent, and it’s beautiful.  It will wrap you up like a soft blanket in total relaxation.  Much like the horse snoozing in its inspired photo!  Soft blue-eyed musk, brown sugar, lavender, meadow grass, and a wee piece of bubblegum.

Good Bit Crazy:  This scent is leather with a floral hint.  Perfect for those not so girly girls who want a touch of something tough.  Rough and tumble leather, dust, tonka bean, lady-like white amber, ballsy red musk, patchouli, and daredevil pink pepper.

Big Bay & Petite Brunette:  This one had a slight sweet scent to it.  I smelled cherries with a touch of amaretto.  Per Blooddrop, it is pomegranate, Haitian vetiver, plum, tobacco, dark cherry, opoponax, myrrh CO2, patchouli and a whisper of spices.

Never Come Between A Woman and Her Horse:  Well first, this title is completely true!  That person will never win ha!  This is a romantic, clean scent that I found to have a touch of the sea smell.   An oh so romantic ladies perfume of rose bouquet, vanilla, sandalwood, and carrot seed.

He Better Get Off My Horse:  This title makes me laugh but it fits the photo.  This has a definite leather smell with a touch of vanilla.  It is a clean scent and perfect for those who don’t want a lot of frills.  A no-nonsense ladies perfume of rose de mai and oriental vanilla tainted with dirty, dusty leather.

blooddroplipbalm

Astrid of Blooddrop was so kind to send me other wonderful goodies in addition to the perfumes.  Her Kiss Kiss lip balms are perfect for those days at the barn and you need to keep your lips moist.  They come in unique flavors such as Watermelon Spritzer,  and the flavors are not overpowering.  They are a thick lip balm so one or two swipes will adequately coat your lips.  They are semi-matte balm which I love.  These are definitely worth keeping stashed in your pockets!

I also received these fabulous bath items!  The Sugar Polish is perfect for exfoliating and moisturizing your skin.  I received the Rose & Lemon Garden scent and it’s so yummy!  This smelled absolutely wonderful!  This sugar polish is homemade and vegan!

Next, I tried out the Milk & Honey Softening Soaks in the Cooling Soak which is made to chill out after a hot summer day and refresh your body with cucumber, calendula, and a pair of mints!  Oh my goodness!  It does just what it says!  Here’s what I did.  After a full day at work followed by a trip to the barn, I decided I was due a little pampering.  I created a foot soak.  It doesn’t take much… just a couple of spoonfuls into warm water.  It smells wonderful with a touch of mint.  It reminded me of the stuff they use for pedicures but better!  It was truly relaxing.  I followed this up by applying the lotion mentioned below.

I have never seen soap like the Wonder Wash.  The gel soap is definitely one of a kind.  The scent is light and I have the Spiced Peach & Patchouli.  If you want something totally different and fun, this is it!

The Silken Hand & Body Lotion is what applied after the soak.  It has a great texture and feels velvety.  I have the Coconut, Green Tea & Lotus scent and I get more of the Green Tea from it.  It’s a thicker lotion so you definitely feel moisturized for longer.  It feels wonderful on!

Lastly, let’s talk about the Aurevoir Insect Repellant.  I had been invited to a trail ride and barn cookout at a friend’s barn, and I thought this would be a good way to test this insect repellant.  It works perfectly!  I didn’t have one bug bite and the best thing about it is that it doesn’t smell like insect repellant!  It smells really good!  There is no medicinal smell, and it has a woody, citrus note.  It’s fabulous!  Loved it!

There are many other horse-inspired scents at Blooddrop not covered here so head over and pick out one that is perfect for you!  Grab some of the other great products while you’re there.  You will love it!  Use promo code VELVETRIDER to receive 15% off your purchase through September 15, 2014!
