I love fashion trends, and equestrian trends is no different. I’m sure a lot of people think that we just wear breeches and polos, but it can be so much more than that! Plus equestrian fashion is fun! Some trends to be looking for this fall are European styling and high tech fabrics. These are showing up even in the most traditional of equestrian sports, dressage and hunter. Look for CoolMax and microfiber fabrics in your riding apparel which will offer more comfort, better performance, and are machine washable. How fabulous! The European styling will come in with contrast piping and stitching, and the addition of logos. Traditional wool for show jackets have been substituted for High Teck stretch fabrics, and you will be seeing these crossover into jumping, eventing, and dressage. What’s even better are these are also washable! Keep an eye out for such brands as Pikeur, Ovation, Grand Prix, and Horze to name a few. You will see more moisture wicking materials used for riding shirts rather than your traditional cotton, and competitors in dressage, jumping, and eventing are going to zip front shirts. Traditional choker collars have all been redesigned to integrate a wrap collar on the shirt which means no separate choker collars to lose! Sound wonderful? How about magnetic touch closure collars? These are set to debut in 2013. The helmets are going to be lighter, slimmer profiles with wonderful venting. Everyone needs a breathable helmet!
