SaddleMattress was one of my amazing finds while attending Rolex. I love to find equestrian products that are a little out of the norm of what we see day to day but are totally functional. SaddleMattress Inc is a small Massachusetts based Company dedicated to protecting saddle panels when stored on a saddle rack so they retain their shape and balance for optimum performance on a horse’s back. I will tell you that it hadn’t even occurred to me that my saddle could be getting damaged from sitting on its rack all day. So I had to remedy this with a SaddleMattress Supreme!
I was so excited to receive it in the mail and packaging was superb! It felt really special to get.
One of the fun things about a SaddleMattress is you have custom color and monogramming options. This is always a plus in my book. I chose a bright blue piping with Taylor’s name monogrammed in a silver thread. Each mattress comes in the standard black micro suede cover.
If you are using one of those racks that attach to the wall, then you need a SaddleMattress. The Supreme and Excel models are 22.5 inches long x 13 inches wide x 3 inches tall. Most standard English saddle racks are 22 inches long by 10 inches wide so SaddleMattress has some built in tolerance for width and length. They easily slide onto the rack and Velcro in place. Not only do you protect your saddle while it’s not in use, but you instantly have a name plate!
I am so excited to have a SaddleMattress and I think it looks amazing in my little nook of the tack room. (Excuse my mess!). This will also be extremely easy to clean. Do not clean the interior but you can remove the micro suede cover for cleaning. SaddleMattress recommends dry cleaning for best results but you can machine wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent (DO NOT use bleach) and lay flat to dry (DO NOT put in dryer).
