Rolex 2013 Cross Country Recap

Whew!  It can get exhausting just watching the cross country phase let alone riding it multiple times in one day!  It just goes to show what true athletes these riders are.  What a day!  The morning starting with the majority of riders going clear and within time.  There was one fall by Becky Holder on Can’t Fire Me, and there were a few retires.  The afternoon proved more difficult for the riders.  Several retired, had a few more falls, and surprisingly William Fox-Pitt retired Chilli Morning opening the door for Andrew Nicholson to take the lead.  Great horsemanship was displayed and true dedication to what was best for the horse.  What an exciting day!  These horses have such depth of beauty, athleticism, and charisma that it is just breathtaking to watch!

Here are some things I noticed for you equestrian fashionistas:

1. Charles Owen 4 Star Skull Cap
2. Charles Owen Kontakt 4 Body Protector
3. SSG Riding Gloves
4. Hunter Boots (for the spectators)
5. Rain Jackets (for the spectators, I personally preferred the actual jacket over the poncho, but that’s just me)

It was disappointing to see such riders as Mary King, Boyd Martin, and William Fox-Pitt retire early from the course, but there were still amazing rides today.  Quimbo, Donner, Calico Joe, and Trading Aces all need to get in my barn asap!
