Week 10 of the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida is officially over. This season has been absolutely amazing, and there are still two weeks left! I have learned so much from all three of my amazing horses in this short period! This weekend was incredible; I competed with both Mouse and Rotano in the FEI Junior division. We arrived on Wednesday and had two great schooling rides. We started with the Junior Team Test on Thursday afternoon and I was 4th with Mouse and 2nd with Rotano. Mouse and I are still a fairly new partnership and I am learning so much from him! During his test on Thursday he sadly put his tongue over the bit in the first part of my trot work. Luckily, he fixed it and we ended up with a very solid score. Rotano was absolutely amazing; he is such a fun horse and a joy to work with. Friday, we had a training day where we were able to fix any problems that we had on Thursday and both of the horses schooled very well. We competed again on Saturday and I am pleased to say that I was 1st with Mouse and 2nd with Rotano in a very large and competitive class!! They were such good boys even with so much going on. On Sunday, Mouse and I competed in our very first Junior Kür (freestyle) together! It was so much fun, I enjoyed every moment of it and we ended up with a 73.333!! (You can view my ride below). This week was such a learning week for me because even though we try and prepare the best that we can for every situation we cannot control everything. There was such a stark contrast between my rides on Thursday and Sunday that it is hard to believe that it was the same horse and I the same rider. The best thing that we can do as riders is to take the good things and leave the bad things. I feel like I learned so much from this weekend and I am so proud of both of my boys!
