What’s hot with the big name eventers
As the winter season is coming to a close eventer’s down south are preparing to make the great migration back up north. Some are relieved, some are sad. But nonetheless in the next couple of weeks they will taste the last drop of Maria’s cheesy dip for the year.
This winter, has been full of interesting trends that will surely catch on with everyone back up north, and you will be seeing everyone wearing it within a couple of months!
First of all, Kate Chadderton has taken an interesting twist on a cross country helmet. Discarding her hold skull cap for being unoriginal, she is now competing in a powder blue Uvex helmet with diamonds and her sponsor’s logos painted on it. “I had it done by a guy that paints for Nascar,” she explains. “It’s not quite the right color blue, so it’s just a prototype to wear for now. I’ll be getting the real one soon.” It’s sure an interesting way to show off your cross country colors and your sponsors!
Quickly growing among the riders down south is Ogilvy Equestrian. While in past years it would be hard to find a single rider at an event with a half pad or saddle pad, it’s not very hard to find them anymore. Many young riders and professionals are seen rocking them around on course with Ecogold pads or with Ogilvy saddle pads!
Continuing from last summer, EIS and other vented shirts are still wildly popular. They come in a wide range of colors, and now even with contrasting collars. Riders like Jimmie Schramm and Lucia Strini have been seen wearing them at every event since Richland Park HT.
Antares helmets have been increasingly popular in the dressage since last fall. Now, you can see many professionals and young riders alike wearing them.
